Renter's insurance is something that is often overlooked and ignored by renters, especially in Boston, so I thought that it would be worth the time to explain it and why it may be worth it to protect your stuff.
The Case for Renters Insurance
Renters insurance covers all of your personal items, including furniture, electronics, and anything else you have in the apartment. Typically, if this is expensive stuff that you won't throw out at the end of your lease then it would be smart of you to insure it. The cost is much lower than you'd think at $10-$25 per month, you can rest assured that you will have all the same stuff when you move out. This type of insurance protects against burglary and also damages from water/fire. While the odds of these happening is somewhat low in Boston, do you really want to risk it to save $10 per month?
